Coinciding with the Human Rights Day 2010, exiled Bhutanese from Jhapa and Morang camps have sought for help from the international community and Nepali government to initiate dignified repatriation to Bhutan.
Various awareness programs on human rights were celebrated in different seven camps today to mark the day.

Meanwhile, Jhapa chapter of the Human Right Organization of Nepal organised a program at Damak to highlight the plight of the exiled Bhutanese in Nepal.
Exiled leaders including Dr. Bhampa Rai and members of various organizations and senior citizens, among others participated in a rally conducted before the formal gathering. The program was chaired by the Chief District Officer Sashi Shekhar Shrestha.
Some of the participants shared their sorrows of family separation due to the third country resettlement program while others demanded repatriation
Speaking at the program, CDO Shrestha said, “All refugees have rights to return. Nepal has been trying its best to negotiate with Bhutan, but Bhutan has never been sincere in its words.”

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Bhutanese Refugee Representative Repatriation Committee, Dr. Rai expressed his dismay that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has been simply pressurizing and motivating people to depart from camps.
Noted human rights activists Dr. KP Subedi mentioned the international community should seriously address the long-standing issue of the Bhutanese refugee.
